DIFFERENT PATHS TO JUSTICE: The Case of Economy and The Environment

There has lately been a pressing need for elaborate discussion on the possibility of creating an economy based on the common good, one that takes into consideration environmental sustainability and the detrimental effects of climate change. The Arab region is known for its climatic diversity, which was reflected on the variety of repercussions linked to climate change. These include rising temperatures, draught, floods, a decline in agricultural production, and the deterioration of the tourism sector.

1) The Arab region project between regional changes and the international context (2018-2020) in cooperation Open Society Foundation: The aim of the project is to determine the shape of a new order that can be representing the interests of the majority in the region with a focus in particular on issues such as citizenship, justice, good governance, and democracy, as well as on the characteristics of the main institutions that can operate within this new order.  This was done through: understanding the developments that have taken place in the region through two approaches: the first is the official approach, that has become a far more divided than any time ever on a number of fronts, including in this revolution, refugees, and extremism, and the second is the popular approach, which is what reflects the aspirations of the people for change and reform. 1) Media and Democratic Transition(2016): in cooperation with the Swedish Institute in Alexandria Tackling the nature of the problematic relationship between media and the political process in many countries in the Arab region, a relationship that is characterized with overlap to an extent that it is not separable, so it is hard to say that the problems of media can be solved if the system has become democratic. This project came out with a book that deals with a comparison between some Arab experiences: Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen, Algeria, and Morocco. These experiences differed from their political and social context. They varied in terms of the regulations that govern the media field and the scope that it provided in the democratic transition process. In fact, a comparison of these experiences is important because each experience represents a remarkable political context even if they share common features. It deals with a number of topics. Project of “Training Youth of Political Parties” (2015) in cooperation with the Danish-Egyptian Institute for Dialogue The aim of the project is to strengthen and build the capacities of youth from different political parties, in light of the problems facing young people in these parties, whether in terms of their integration into them, or in terms of party line, as well as the problems of marginalizing youth, especially in parties whose members belong to different generations.
